A few weeks ago we hosted an event celebrating Juneteenth. We partnered with Lewis School of Excellence, Grace and Peach Church, and CPD 25th District to host an evening of live music, soul food, and a variety of activities for the families of our community. This event was sponsored by Let’s Link Chi and Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s Partnership for Safe and Peaceful Communities, an initiative to support year-round activities that center our neighborhood, fund youth programs, and provide resources for the safety of our community. We were also able to hand out free books donated by Oak Street Health. This evening also consisted of a mural unveiling for paintings of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Cesar Chavez, and Mother Theresa that are displayed at the Revive Center. We had 125 people join us in celebrating this day.
